Man Ordered To Withdraw Cash At Knife Point

A man has been marched to a cash machine and ordered to withdraw money by two men armed with a large kitchen knife.

Police are hunting the culprits after they robbed a house in south Belfast and threatened the occupants before stealing phones, cash and wallets.

The incident occurred in the Stranmillis Park Area, shortly after 10.40pm on Wednesday 21 November.

Detective Sergeant Moffet said: "Four men were inside the house during the incident, with one of them threatened by the man armed with the knife. The male was not injured during the incident.

"He was then taken to a nearby cash point and ordered to withdraw a sum of money. The two males then made off from the scene.

"One of the men is described as being 6'2" in height, with brown hair and a stubbly brown beard. He was wearing a grey jumper and a grey hat. The second man was described as 5'8" in height and wearing a blue coloured hooded top."

The PSNI said their enquiries are continuing, and are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact detectives on non-emergency line 101.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Cash machine users were today advised to keep playing safe when making cash withdrawals, despite fraudulent cash withdrawals in Northern Ireland falling by 8% to £368,000 over the past year. However, despite a fall in Northern Ireland figures the rest of the UK saw an average rise of 85% in fraudulent cash withdrawals over the same period.

22-Year-Old Man Jailed For Rape At Laganside Crown Court
A 22-year-old man has been sentenced to six years for rape at Laganside Crown Court. Ahmad Alsbaihi was sentenced to six years. He will serve three years in custody and three years on licence. He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register and will be subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) for 10 years.
