Police Slam Thieves Who Stole £1K From Elderly Belfast Woman

Police have branded the thieves who stole £1,000 from an elderly woman as "heartless" individuals.

The money, which had been saved up for Christmas presents, was burgled from a house in Mayo Street in west Belfast on Thursday 22 November.

Posting on Facebook, the PSNI said: "Someone has sneaked into the house and stolen around £1000 cash. What makes this particularly repulsive is that the victim of this is an 83 year old lady who lives alone.

"Who in all good conscience can do this?…This money was for her to buy Christmas presents for her family."

The officers added that they are "itching" to catch the culprit, and urged anyone with information to contact detectives at Musgrave Station on 101 quoting reference 1454 of 22 November 2018.

Alternatively, witnesses can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
