Man Escapes Injury In L'Derry Shotgun Attack

Police have launched an investigation after a gun attack in L'Derry, in which a driver was lucky to escape unharmed.

A masked man fired a shotgun at a van travelling along Clooneyville Avenue, shortly after 8pm on Monday 26 November.

The blast struck the rear of the vehicle, breaking the window and lodging pellets in the passenger head rest.

Police believe the gunman escaped on foot along the alleyway that runs down the back of Bonds Street.

Detective Constable Richard Donnell said: "Fortunately the 37-year-old male driver, who was alone in the vehicle, was unharmed.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the Bonds Street, May Street, or Clooneyville Avenue areas at around 8pm on Monday night and who may have information that could assist the investigation."

25-Year-Old Charged With Murder Of Bobbie McKee
A 25-year-old man has been charged in connection with the murder of Bobbie McKee in Kilkeel. Mr McKee (69) died shortly after being found seriously injured at his home in the Newcastle Road area on Thursday 21 March. The man has also been charged with the attempted murder of Mr McKee's wife, who remains in a serious condition in hospital.

PSNI Name Kilkeel Murder Victim As Bobbie McKee
The PSNI's Major Investigation Team have named the man who was murdered in Kilkeel on Thursday, 21st March as Bobbie McKee. Mr McKee, who was 69-years-old, was pronounced dead after his body was located in a property in the Newcastle Road area last Thursday afternoon following a report of a concern for safety for a couple.
