Car Drags Officer 500m Before Fatal Crash
A man has been killed and a Garda officer injured in a crash in County Monaghan.
The collision happened in Castleblaney after an officer attempted to stop a vehicle close to the the Garda station around 11.30pm on Tuesday 27 November.
The fleeing silver Audi A6 dragged the officer half a kilometre along the road, before crashing into another car in the town's Main Street.
The driver of the second car, a man in his 40's, was killed in the smash.
The officer, who is in his late 20's, suffered head, facial and leg injuries and received treatment at a hospital in Drogheda.
The driver of the Audi was arrested at the scene and taken to a Garda station in Carrickmacross for questioning.
Weather Warning Extended As NI Battered By Wind And Rain
The Met Office has extended the yellow weather warning for Northern Ireland as the tail end of Storm Diana batters the region.
An initial warning for wind was in place today, Wednesday 28 November from 9am until midnight, with public transport delays and flooding on exposed routes expected.
A number of roads have been closed or face delays, particularly in Eastern areas, with motorists urged to exercise caution on the A20 Portaferry Road in County Down.
An additional yellow alert for wind will be in place from midnight until 3am on Thursday 29, with a short-term loss of power anticipated in some areas.
Coastal routes and seaside communities are likely to be affected by spray and large waves.
Police have urged the public to "take care" due to the "treacherous conditions".
Belfast Set To Host Giants' European Super Final
Belfast is gearing up to host a major hockey event, as the Giants hope to claim European silverware in the Continental cup with an advantage of competing at home.
The Super Final will take place over three nights in January 2019, Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13, in which the Giants secured their place by making it successfully through the semi-finals, held at the city's SSE Arena.
After topping their group, the squad won the rights to host the final over rivals Arlan Kokshetau of Kazakstan, who the Northern Ireland team will now face, along with Poland's GKS Katowice and Belarus side HK Gomel.
It is only the second time they have reached this stage of the competition, as they made the 2002/03 final stages in Milan in Italy and Lugano in Switzerland.
The Giants have also qualified for the quarter-finals of the Challenge Cup as the top seed, and are on a nine-game winning streak in the Elite League.

Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Parts Of NI

The weather warning comes into effect at 9.00 am and is due to remain in place until 5.00 pm with warnings that it could impact travel, cause power outages and lead to large waves in coastal areas.

Two Men Arrested In £500,000 Drug Seiure In South Belfast
Two men have been arrested in connection with a £500,000 drug seizure following searches in South Belfast. On Friday, 01 March, detectives from the PSNI's Organised Crime Branch stopped and searched two vehicles in the Lisburn Road area. Class B controlled drugs were recovered from both vehicles which were also subsequently seized.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following a fatal road traffic collision on Tuesday, 05 march between Omagh and Ballygawley. Shortly before 7.25pm on Tuesday evening, police received a report of a collision on the Curr Road involving a white BMW 320 and blue Scania lorry.
