Council Officers Named Waste Management Team Of The Year
Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council's Environmental Resource Officers have been named Waste Management Team of the Year.
They claimed the title at the recent Sustainable Ireland awards.
The prestigious ceremony celebrates the achievements of individuals and organisations within the energy, environmental and waste management sectors across Ireland.
The Council team, made up of Declan Donnelly, Fiona Watters, Janice Dunlop and John McCarron, was recognised for its LiveSmart campaign and ‘H2O on the Go’ initiative.
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers said: "Our Environmental Resource Officers are hugely deserving of this title which reflects their ongoing commitment to improving recycling and generating greater awareness about waste management throughout the Causeway Coast and Glens area. Members of the public and businesses have shown great enthusiasm for our creative LiveSmart and ‘H2O on the Go’ projects which have certainly helped to set us apart.
"I have no doubt this success will give the team further incentive to continue their efforts in making the Causeway Coast and Glens a greener and more sustainable place for all."

Networking Event To Develop Causeway Coast Tourism Experiences
A speed networking event is set to bring together all four Causeway Coastal Route (CCR) clusters to introduce their respective tourism products. Businesses will have one to one exchanges, each lasting five minutes, in a bid to foster collaborative initiatives and help entrepreneurs identify more opportunities for tourism experiences.

NEW PLAN TO BOOST CAUSEWAY COAST TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
THE Giant’s Causeway and surrounding area is to receive a much-needed boost in the form of a new management plan aimed at creating a sustainable future for one of Northern Ireland’s premier tourist attractions. Last year the area suffered a financial setback when the Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre was largely destroyed by fire.
