Pedestrian Dies Following West Belfast Crash

A 48-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car in west Belfast.

The victim was involved in a collision with a red Toyota Aygo on the Andersonstown Road shortly after 4.40pm on Monday 10 December.

The incident happened near the Slievegallion Drive junction.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The road has since reopened.

SDLP Councillor for the area Tim Attwood offered his condolences to the victim's family.

"My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the man who sadly died tonight in a road traffic collision in Andersonstown," the representative for Blackmountain said.

Police are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area around the time of the collision and who witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the collision to contact local officers in west Belfast or the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 910 of 10 December.

Road Closed In North Belfast Following Collision

Woman Killed In Co Armagh Road Collision
A woman in her 30s has been killed in a road crash in Portadown, Co Armagh. The woman was hit by a car as she was walking on the side of the Moy Road at around 9.45pm on Tuesday. The road was closed for a short time but it has been reopened. Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.

Dental Surgery Damaged In West Belfast Blaze
A dental surgery has been badly damaged and a derelict house has been gutted in a fire in west Belfast. The Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene and six fire engines were involved in tackling the blaze, which took a number of hours to bring under control. The blaze was discovered at around 8.00pm at the Andersonstown Road premises.

Pair Mugged In South Belfast
A man and woman have been mugged in south Belfast. The man was punched and the woman was threatened at knifepoint in the Malone Road area on Thursday at approximately 7.30pm. A man approached the pair and punched the other man to the ground, threatened the woman with a knife and demanded money.

Woman Attacked In West Belfast
A woman has been pushed through a window at a fast-food restaurant restaurant in west Belfast. The 18-year-old victim was attacked at a kebab shop on the Andersonstown Road in the early hours of Sunday morning. Blood was covered on the walls of the premises after the assault. The woman was taken to hospital to be treated but has been discharged.

Two Arrested Over West Belfast Stabbing
Two men have been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of a man in west Belfast. The suspects, aged 17 and 26, are being questioned by police at Musgrave Street police station. The victim, aged 18, was stabbed in the Cullingtree Road area on Sunday, 01 November. He is currently in a serious condition in hospital.

The 20-year-old man stole a necklace and a bracelet during a confrontation with two people, according to the police. A car window was also smashed in the incident.
