Ninth Arrest In Ian Ogle Murder Investigation

Three people are currently being questioned about the murder of a 45-year-old community worker in east Belfast.

The latest arrest on Friday afternoon, 01 February, saw a 38-year-old man detained, bringing the total number of those questioned by police to nine.

Ian Ogle was stabbed 11 times in the back and his skull was fractured in a brutal attack in Cluan Place on the evening of Sunday 27 January.

His funeral is scheduled to take place on the morning of Monday 04.

Earlier this week, detectives investigating the murder arrested four men aged 21, 31, 45 and 49 and two women aged 35 and 36.

They were all later released on bail pending further enquiries.

Primark Confirms Launch Date For Second Belfast Store

Primark has announced the opening date of its second store in Belfast city centre.

The historic Bank Buildings, where the retailer was located, was gutted by a fire last August.

A Primark spokesperson said on Friday 01 Febraury: "We are delighted to announce that our second store in Belfast City Centre, on Donegall Place, will open for business on Tuesday, April 16.

"Donegall Place opens in addition to our store on Castle Street, which started trading in December following the fire at Bank Buildings in August 2018.

"Primark would once again like to thank the whole community in Belfast for their support over recent months. We will announce more details about the Donegall Place opening in the coming weeks."

An extension at the rear of Bank Buildings at Commonwealth House opened just in time for the Christmas shopping period late last year.

Met Office Warning For More Snow And Ice Across UK

A further warning for snow and ice across the UK and Northern Ireland has been issued.

The Met Office have put a 24-hour yellow alert in place across the region from midday on Friday 01.

Snow showers and icy patches are expected to cause some travel disruption, with some roads and railways likely to be affected.

Motorists are urged to allow extra time for journeys, as well as those hoping to use bus and train services.

Friday's snow is expected to ease throughout the evening, but temperatures will remain low.

Marriage increase in Northern Ireland
Latest figures have revealed that there has been an increase in the number of marriages in Northern Ireland. The number for 2006 was just 8,300, a small increase on the 8,100 marriages registered in 2005, the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) said. This is a significant increase on the recent low of 7,300 registered in 2001.
