Antrim Barber Shop Fire 'Suspected Arson'

Police are treating a fire at a business premises in Antrim as a suspected arson attack.

It is believed the blaze was started at a Turkish Barbers on High Street on the evening of Monday 04 February.

Emergency services, including three fire engines, attended the scene.

Detective Sergeant Lenaghan said: "Substantial damage was caused to the interior of the premises following the incident which is believed to have occurred sometime between 7.30pm and 8pm on Monday evening.

"We are treating this incident as deliberate and I would appeal for anyone who may have information which could assist our investigation or who noticed any suspicious activity in the area at the time to contact detectives at Antrim on 101 quoting 1282 04/02/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."

The incident occurred in the Parkmore area of the County Armagh town at around 1.45am yesterday morning, Thursday 09 May. Detectives are appealing for information after a man was reportedly stabbed in North Belfast last night, 06 May. The incident happened at a house on Alliance Avenue in Ardoyne at around 8.45pm. The man suffered a cut to the head and is now being treated at Mater Hospital.

Man Assaulted With Hammer In Lisburn Robbery
A 32-year-old man has been assaulted with a claw hammer during an aggravated burglary in Lisburn on Sunday, 05 May. The homeowner suffered lacerations to the head after three men gained entry to his flat in the Woodbrook Avenue area. He was later taken to hospital for treatment. Local police received a report of the break-in at approximately 11.
