Police Probe Wildlife Poisoning Attempt In L'Derry

Police have launched an investigation into the potential poisoning of wildlife in L'Derry.

Carcasses of game birds were pegged up in woodland in the Victoria Road area of the city in an attempt to poison wildlife, according to a spokesperson.

An investigation has been launched into the harmful plan, which could have saw adults or children fatally poisoned.

"We will be having these examined to find out what surprises have been left on the carcasses and other raw meat.

"The current popular poisons used for Wildlife crime are toxic to humans and potentially fatal to children- it's beggars belief that these have been left in a public place where kids could pick them up."

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on non-emergency line 101 quoting reference CCS 1208 of 16/02/19.
