Search Ongoing For Missing Person In Downpatrick

The PSNI are conducting a search for a missing person in the Downpatrick area of County Down, with the help of the Irish Coast Guard.

The Dublin based Coast Guard Helicopter R116 is assisting the operation, following a request this morning from the UK Maritime Coastguard Agency.

The helicopter arrived on the scene shortly before first light at around 7am.

Belfast Coastguard is coordinating the helicopter search.

Interaction of this type is a regular feature of search and rescue cooperations between the UK and Irish authorities. This is the fourth request for Helicopter SAR support provided to NI authorities this year.
