Digger Used To Steal ATM In County Antrim

Thieves have used a digger to steal an ATM machine from a bank in Newtownabbey.

The theft occurred in the early hours of this morning, Friday 22 March, from the wall of a bank in Mallusk.

Substantial damage was caused to the building as a result.

Police believe the digger, which was set on fire at the scene immediately after the theft, was stolen from a business a short distance away.

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on non-emergency line 101 quoting reference 163 of 22/03/19.

A man has been remanded in custody after pleading guilty to 20 offences of theft. The 22-year-old suspect appeared in court following a number of shoplifting offences across Ballymena and Antrim. Latest ATM Theft Condemned
A retail chief has spoken out to condemn the latest ATM theft in Northern Ireland which saw thieves rip a machine from a wall in Bushmills, County Antrim. The incident in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday 16 April, marks the tenth cash machine to be stolen in the ninth incident in the region this year.
