Prince Charles & Duchess Camilla Visit Northern Ireland

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are in Northern Ireland today, 09 April, to attend the reopening of Hillsborough Castle.

The County Down site is the Queen's official residence and home to the secretary of state and recently underwent a £20 million makeover.

Charles and Camilla toured the visitor centre and walled garden and also had a tour of the house. The Duchess then visited the Clore Learning Centre on the Castle's grounds to meet school children and local residents.

The facility will open to the public on Thursday 18 April.

Uncertainty For NI Retail Staff As Debenhams Enters Administration

High street retailer Debenhams, which has five stores in Northern Ireland, has gone into administration.

It comes after the firm rejected Sports Direct tycoon Mike Ashley's latest offer.

Commenting on the announcement, Retail NI Chief Executive Glyn Roberts said the move has sparked a "worrying time" for the staff affected.

"Given their stores are an important part of Northern Ireland's retail offer and provide a lot of footfall for town centres and shopping centres, I hope a buyer can be found."

The Darkness To Play Belfast Gig At The Limelight

UK rock band The Darkness are set to play a show in Belfast at The Limelight in November 2019.

It follows their announcement of a new album titled Easter is Cancelled, to be released later this year.

The show will take place on Tuesday 26. Tickets go on sale this Friday, 12 April, from ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

"Committed" Dementia Carers Recognised
A Belfast carer has been recognised for the 14 years of work she has done for dementia care, at the first Northern Ireland Dementia Excellence awards. Lisa Forbes won 'Carer of the Year' at the event, which was organized by the Dementia Services Development Centre Northern Ireland (DSDC).
