Woman Escapes Injury In L'Derry Arson Attack

A woman in her 60s has managed to escape injury after an arson attack spread to her home in L'Derry on Tuesday evening, 09 April.

Police said a number of bins in the Greenhaw Avenue area were set alight at around 8.30pm, spreading to an oil tank at the back of a property and causing it to go on fire.

The woman got outside in time but later needed treatment for shock.

Her home and other neighbouring properties have been substantially damaged. There were no reports of any other injuries.

Police are investigating a link between the arson attack and another incident, which saw a slate thrown through the window of a nearby parked car.

Anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area is urged to contact police at Strand Road on 101 quoting reference number 1330 of 09/04/19.
