Alliance Condemn Castlederg Shooting

An Alliance Councillor has condemned a shooting at a house in County Tyrone as "an outrageous attack".

A woman escaped injury after a shotgun was reportedly fired at a house in the Millbrook Gardens area of Castlederg on Friday evening, 07 June.

A window of the property was smashed and police said it fortunate that the woman was not hurt in the "reckless attack".

Omagh Councillor Stephen Donnelly hit out at those behind the shooting. He commented: "It is only by luck nobody was injured or worse.

"I condemn in the strongest possible terms whoever was behind this attack in Castlederg. Guns have no place on our society and we need to see those who carried out this attack taken off the streets before they do something like this again.

"I want to encourage anyone in the local vicinity who may have any information about this crime to bring that forward to the PSNI to assist in its ongoing investigation."

Anyone who witnessed the incident or holds any information is urged to contact police on non-emergency line 101.
