'Suspicious Object' Sparks Belfast Security Alert

Police are dealing with a security alert in west Belfast this morning, Monday 24 June.

An operation was sparked following the discovery of a suspicious object in the Old Colin area of Dunmurry.

Parts of the Pantridge Road, the Stewartstown Road and Upper Dunmurry Lane have been closed.

Sinn Fein Councillor Stephen Magennis said the alert has caused major disruption for residents of the Old Colin area, particularly for those travelling to work and school.

"I would urge motorists to avoid the area this morning if possible," he added.

Politicians Unite To Oppose Abortion Reform
A group of cross-party politicians have united to demand that the Government steps back from "ill conceived" proposals for abortion reform. A letter co-signed by ten politicians and the former Police Ombudsman Baroness Nuala O'Loan said the changes to abortion provisions exceed what was required by Parliament.

'Disgust' Over Sectarian Attacks In North Belfast
A number of sectarian attacks have been carried out on homes in a social housing development in north Belfast. Windows were smashed and a flag hung on a property in Tyndale Gardens, Ballysillan this week. It comes after graffiti was sprayed on another property in the area.

Grenade Thrown At Police In West Belfast
An overnight grenade attack on a PSNI vehicle in west Belfast was a clear attempt to kill or injure officers, detectives have said. A police Land Rover was driving in the Falls Road shortly after 2am this morning, Wednesday 04 December, when it was struck by an object on Milltown Row.
