Parades Expected To Disrupt Traffic

Road users are advised of traffic delays this evening, Monday 01 July, due to a number of parades.

With just days to go until the Twelfth celebrations, Orange Order lodges across Belfast and beyond will gather to mark the Battle of the Somme.

Delays are expected from 5.45pm through to 10pm in the city. In east Belfast, road users should consider alternative routes for this evening's rush hour, as the country bound lanes of the Albertbridge Road will be closed to traffic from 5.45pm.

Between 7pm and 10pm, there will be significant traffic disruption at locations across East Belfast, including the Albertbridge Road, Ravenhill Road, Castlereagh Road and Woodstock Road areas.

In South Belfast, delays can be expected from 6.30pm to 9pm in the Sandy Row, Donegal Road, Shaftsbury Square, Dublin Road, Tates Avenue and Lisburn Road areas.

Meanwhile in West Belfast, delays can be expected from 6.30pm to 9.30pm in the Lawnbrook Avenue, Shankill Road, Peter's Hill and North Street areas. There will also be some delays in North Belfast, from Clifton Street through to Belfast City Hall from 6pm to 9pm.

Alternative routes are available and road users are asked to plan their journeys in advance and take into account the potential for delays.

In north Down, delays are likely from 7pm until 9.30pm in the Bangor, Newtownards, Comber, Donaghadee, Ballywalter and Greyabbey areas.

More details can be found on the Parades Commission website.
