Young Inventors Share Ideas On Belfast's Future

A group of young people have gathered to share their thoughts on Belfast City Council's plans to develop a cultural strategy for the city.

The Little Inventors visited the #BelfastImagining hub last weekend as part of a series of events to inspire creative ideas on how to improve and harness the city's vibrant and growing cultural scene.

The event was part of council's draft cultural strategy which is currently out for public consultation until Wednesday 10 July and can be accessed here.

Lord Mayor of Belfast Councillor John Finucane said: "We've been having conversations with the public on the development of the city's cultural and creative offering since 2017 as part of an ongoing engagement programme, and those conversations helped to shape the draft cultural strategy.

"We want people to dream big; to share their ideas on how they imagine the city in 10 years' time. People are at the heart of culture and so it is important for us that our strategy has a strong citizen-focussed approach.

"It's also vitally important that we listen to our young people because as the next generation, they are the future and their ideas and views will be crucial to us getting this right and delivering a successful blueprint to develop the city's cultural heart."

The weekend workshop was facilitated by Nerve Belfast and Urban Scale Interventions and saw the young people create their own unique digital designs before transforming them into physical artwork and stickers to be displayed inside the hub, open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm, until mid-July.
