Community Group Cleans Up North Coast Beach

As today, 08 June, marks World Oceans Day, a County L'Derry based community group has taken to a North Coast beach to collect litter.

'Moving on Up' from Limavady were at Benone Beach, a popular tourist attraction just north of Castlerock, to ensure the coastline is a clean and safe place for visitors to enjoy.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council supported the effort by loaning litter pickers, bags and the pick-up for recycling all of the materials collected.

County Armagh Route To Close For Resurfacing

A road in the village of Cullyhanna in County Armagh is set to close for resurfacing work later this month.

Work will begin on Slatequarry Road on Monday 22 July and run until Sunday 04 August.

This £132,000 scheme will see improvements delivered along a 1.7km section of the road, from the junction of Tullynavall Road to the Finnegans Road junction.

A weekday road closure will be implemented throughout the project between 8am and 6pm.

During these times a diversion will be in place via Cullyhanna Road - Skerriff Road – Slatequarry Road and vice versa.

Drivers should expect longer delays and are advised to leave additional time when planning any journeys.

Seventies Stars To Headline Antrim Party In The Park

The music of the Super Seventies will take centre stage at this year's Party in The Park at Antrim Castle Gardens.

The event on Saturday 03 August will see four hours of fabulous music from various sensational 70's superstars with their tributes to Smokie and the Bay City Rollers, followed by Cher NI and This Way Up!

This festival of free family fun will include crazy golf, arts & crafts, swing boats, balloon modelling, face painting, bungee trampolines, and a range of culinary delights from the food fayre.

The Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Alderman John Smyth commented: "Party in The Park is a fantastic day out for all the family, it is one of many events hosted at the award-winning Antrim Castle Gardens. I hope you can join us and enjoy the great line up of Free Family Fun."

So head to Antrim Castle Gardens on Saturday 03 August, the perfect day out for both young and old alike.

Green Party Welcomes Decision To Save Promote Learning Disability Service
The Green Party has welcomed the decision by charity & social, Orchardville, to run the Promote Learning Disability Service in Bangor after it was under threat of closure. Although delighted by the news, Councillor McKee said that it was "disgraceful" that day opportunity placements for 52 adults were put under threat.

Bomb Planted Under Police Officer's Car
Police have launched an investigation following the attempted murder of a police officer in east Belfast. A serving officer detected a suspicious object under his vehicle when parked at Shandon Park on Saturday afternoon, 01 June. ATO were called to the scene and the device was declared a viable explosive.
