Co Tyrone Community In Shock At Road Death
A County Tyrone community has been left in shock after the death of a 17-year-old boy in a road traffic collision in Omagh.
The fatality was named yesterday as Ryan Mahoney from Augher. He was the passenger in a black Audi when it was involved in a head-on collision with a white Mercedes.
The crash happened on the Clanabogan Road at around 8.25pm on Sunday evening, 21 July.
Three other people were taken to hospital along with the driver of the other vehicle, all with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
SDLP MLA for west Tyrone Daniel McCrossan said the entire community was left stunned after awaking to the news on Monday.
He said: "People in Omagh are devastated today. There's a real sense of shock in the community after people woke up to the tragic news that a young man lost his life in a car crash on the Clanabogan Road last night.
"To lose a young man with so much to give to his family and his community in these circumstances is absolutely heartbreaking. My thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time. I know the whole community will offer them our support in the days and weeks ahead."
PSNI Inspector Will Brown is appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1815 of 21/07/19.
