Malcolm McKeown: Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Murder

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a shooting in Waringstown, County Down.

Malcolm McKeown, aged 54, was shot dead at a petrol station on Main Street in the village on Monday evening, 19 August.

The suspect has been taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Police said searches in relation to the murder are ongoing in the Lurgan and Waringstown areas, while two earlier searches have been completed.

Mr McKeown was found shot dead in his BMW vehicle, which was parked at the rear of Dewarts Garage, shortly before 9pm.

The father of three entered the shop at around 7.15pm and police believe he was shot shortly after.

A blue coloured car was spotted near the scene and a Volkswagen Passat, registration RK62 PLX was later found burnt out on the Glenavon Road in Lurgan. Police have urged anyone with dash cam footage from the area to get in touch.

Detective Chief Inspector Peter Montgomery appealed for anyone who visited the shop between 6pm-7.30pm or saw the silver coloured BMW vehicle, registration XEZ 5518 to come forward.
