Car Burnt Out In Co Down Arson
An investigation is underway after a car was burnt out and windows smashed during an arson attack in County Down.
A house in the Fernmore Avenue area of Bangor was targeted in the early hours of this morning, Friday 30 August.
The front window of the house was smashed, the passenger window of the car broken and a petrol can thrown inside at around 1.40am.
Three males were witnessed making off from scene.
Police have urged anyone with information that may be of assistance to contact officers in Bangor on 101 quoting reference number 108 of 30/08/19.
Victims' Commissioner Judith Thompson Reappointed
Northern Ireland Victims' Commissioner Judith Thompson has been reappointed in her role for another year.
The secretary of state opted to extend her term despite recent calls for her replacement.
Some have questioned her credibility following recommendations she presented to the Northern Ireland Office about a Troubles pension that gave no distinction between victims of attack and those who had been hurt while carrying out attacks.
Ms Thompson claimed the changing of the legal definition of a victim was a political matter.
NI Secretary Julian Smith has since announced that she will continue in the job until August 2020.
He said: "I have decided to renew the Commissioner's term for 12 months, in order to provide immediate continuity of this essential role and allow Stormont's political leaders - once they are back up and running - to determine the long term future of this role."
Snow Patrol To Return To Belfast
Snow Patrol are set to bring their latest tour to Belfast's Waterfront Hall.
The local band will perform at the venue on Thursday 28 November as part of their Reworked tour.
It follows an album release of reimagined versions of tracks from their existing catalogue, including 'Chocolate', 'Time Won't Go Slowly', 'Crack The Shutters' and 'Open Your Eyes'.
Tickets will go on sale on Friday 06 September at 10am.
