Helpline Opens For Special Needs School Placements
Sinn Fein have welcomed the Education Authority's move to establish a helpline for Special Educational Needs placements in schools.
Any parents with issues over their child's placement for the new school term can contact officials between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, by calling 028 9598 5960.
It comes amid reports of many children being left without a suitable school place.
Sinn Fein's Karen Mullan welcomed the introduction of the helpline. The Foyle MLA said: "This is a welcome step from EA given the difficulties facing many families, which have been well publicised in recent times.
"The welfare of children must take priority, particularly at what can be a difficult time of year for those with Special Educational Needs. I would encourage any parent who is awaiting a placement for their child to contact the helpline."
