Man Held Over Police Murder Bid In Belfast

A man has been arrested in County Fermanagh by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a police officer with an under-car bomb in east Belfast.

The 38-year-old suspect was detained in Belleek on Wednesday morning, 11 September, by the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit.

He was taken to Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

A senior police officer escaped injury when a viable explosive device was discovered under his car at Shandon Park Golf Club on Saturday 01 June.

The murder bid happened only a short distance away from the PSNI headquarters.

Dissident republican group the New IRA later claimed responsibility for the attack.
