PSNI Urge Young Coleraine Motorists To Drive Responsibly

Police in Coleraine are urging young motorists to drive responsibly and respectfully.

The appeal follows numerous complaints of inconsiderate driving in the town's Riverside Retail Park, including excess revving, racing and anti-social driving.

A PSNI Spokesperson said: "I am appealing for you to drive with consideration for local residents and business premises.

"We will be running operations going forward and dealing with any offences detected but rather than alienate young drivers with prosecutions and tickets I would rather enter dialogue and highlight the impact it is having on local residents.

"I am not accusing all young drivers of driving in this manner, the reality is the vast majority have pristine cars and drive sensibly but a small group are effecting local residents' quality of life. What are your thoughts?"

Secure Bike Parking Facilities Rolled Out In Belfast

Four new secure bike storage facilities have opened in Belfast as part of an initiative to promote more active lifestyles.

The new developments were completed as part of the Glider Cycle Shelter Programme. They are located along the Glider G1 route at Dundonald Park & Ride, Ulster Hospital (Moat Park), Holywood Arches and Colin Connect Hub.

This follows the installation of other secure bike storage facilities at train and bus stations across Northern Ireland last year.

Those interested in using the shelters must purchase a £10 key fob to join the scheme, allowing for entry into the secure facilities. You can apply via the Translink website, the Translink Information Desk in Visit Belfast or contact centre 028 90 66 66 30.
