Man Charged Over Coleraine Stabbing

A man is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, following a stabbing in Co L'Derry over the weekend.

A 28-year-old woman sustained a number of stab wounds during the incident on Saturday morning, 05 October. She was targeted at a house in the Hawthorn Terrace area of Coleraine and later taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives from the Public Protection Branch charged the man, aged 28, with attempted murder, assault on police, common assault and harassment.

He was due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates' Court today, Monday 07 October.

Ulster University has secured almost £20million of EU funding to lead three major UK and cross-border research projects. The funding was awarded through the European Union's INTERREG VA Programme. It will be used to help the university advance its research globally in personalised medicine, renewable energy and connected health technology.

Fresh McDaid Arrest Made
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the murder of Coleraine father-of-four Kevin McDaid. Detectives detained the man in the town last night. This brings the total number of arrests over the killing to 25. Mr McDaid was beaten to death by a loyalist mob in May.

Police Appeal For Missing Coleraine Man Andrew Smith
Police are appealing for information to trace missing Coleraine man Andrew Smith. Mr Smith, 28, was last seen in the Ballysally area at around midnight. He is believed to have been driving a white Ford Focus. A PSNI spokesperson said: "We are keen to establish Andrew's whereabouts and that he is safe and well. Police can be contacted on 101.
