Firearm Seized As North Belfast Alert Ends
A suspected firearm and a quantity of ammunition has been seized following a security alert in north Belfast.
The discovery of a suspicious object in the Lower Regent Street area sparked the operation on Tuesday afternoon, 29 October. The road was closed between the Trinity Street and Carrick Hill junctions for some time but has since reopened.
Police and bomb disposal experts seized the items and ended the alert later on Tuesday evening.
Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 449 of 29/10/19. Alternatively, details can be submitted anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
