Translink Release Festive Timetable

Translink has released its Christmas and New Year timetable for the festive season.

Passengers are urged to ensure their travel arrangements are in place ahead of Christmas nights out, with a range of night movers buses and trains on offer.

A range of reduced fares and value offers will also be available.

Special holiday timetables will operate as follows:

Ulsterbus and Goldline:

• Christmas Eve – early close

• Christmas Day – no service

• Boxing Day and New Year's Day – special Holiday timetable

Metro/Glider:

• Monday 23rd December – school holiday timetable will operate including revised frequencies on some services.

• Christmas Eve - school holiday timetable will operate including revised frequencies on some services. Early evening close with last services by 9pm.

• Christmas Day – no service

• Boxing Day – special holiday timetable.

• Friday 27th December to Friday 3rd January – a school holiday timetable will operate including revised frequencies on some services.

• Sat 4th and Sunday 5th January – normal Saturday and Sunday service

Park and Ride:

• Black's Road; Cairnshill; Sprucefield.

• No service Christmas Day; Boxing Day; New Year's Day.

(Belfast International) Airport Express 300/300a:

• Christmas Eve – normal service with early close (last departure from Belfast 9.00pm; last departure from Belfast International Airport 9.50pm)

• Christmas Day – no service

• Boxing Day – holiday timetable (first service from Belfast 6.10am, from Airport 6.45am) Last Departure from Belfast 10.00pm; last departure from Airport 10.35pm) Ballymartin Park and Ride will be closed on Boxing Day.

• 27th December – normal service resumes, first departure from Belfast 4.00am, from Airport 3.05am

• New Year's Day – Sunday timetable. First departure from Belfast 2.30am and from Airport, 3.05am

(George Best Belfast City Airport) 600:

• Christmas Eve – normal service with early close (last departure from Belfast at 9pm and from Airport 9.15pm)

• Christmas Day – no service

• Boxing Day – no service

• New Year's Day – Holiday timetable

NI Railways:

• Christmas Eve – normal service with early close

• Christmas Day – no service

• Boxing Day – no service

• 27th and 28th December – Saturday service

• 29th December – Normal Sunday service

• 30th December – Saturday service

• 31st December – Saturday service with early close

• New Year's Day – Sunday service.

• A limited Enterprise Service will operate on New Year's Day 1.05pm and 4.05pm from Belfast Lanyon Place and 12.00pm and 4.00pm from Dublin Connolly

Foyle Metro/Derry~Londonderry Ulsterbus:

• Monday 23rd December to Friday 3rd January – school holiday timetable on all local Ulsterbus and Foyle Metro services

• Christmas Eve – school holiday service with early close

• Christmas Day, 26th December and New Year's Day – no local Ulsterbus or Foyle Metro

Translink's Director of Service Operations Ian Campbell said: "We are operating significant additional services over the coming weeks, to ensure our customers enjoy hassle free, comfortable and cost-effective travel on the run up to the Christmas season, encouraging people to choose public transport as their 'First Choice for Travel'.

Festive Post Arrangements Revealed
Royal Mail is this week reminding customers of delivery and collection arrangements and Post Office branch opening hours over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. There will be a normal postal delivery with an earlier afternoon collection service from all postboxes on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, 24 December.

Detained Belfast man returns home
The Northern Ireland journalist detained in Israel for questioning following an intelligence tip-off has returned home to Belfast. Sean O Muireagáin, 40, arrived at Belfast City Airport following a five day ordeal in which he was arrested by Israeli security forces reportedly acting on information from UK security services.
