Youths Engage In Night Of Disorder In North Belfast

Police have hit out after a group of youths caused disturbances during a night of disorder in north Belfast.

Wheelie bins belonging to residents in the Marrowbone and Limegrove park areas were set alight and stones thrown at passing cars on Saturday night, 04 January. Stones were also thrown at police officers who arrived to deal with the incident.

A PSNI spokesperson condemned the behaviour, saying: "Disappointing effort by small groups of some young people in both Ligoniel and Ardoyne tonight after they set local residents wheelie bins on fire and threw stones at passing cars. And of course then some more at us when we arrived.

"Not sure what fun that would be when it's cold and lashing down? We have sorted both fires and cleared both Marrowbone and Limegrove parks and we will continue to be in the area all evening."
