Man Tested For Suspected Coronavirus In Belfast

A Belfast patient is receiving treatment for symptoms associated with coronavirus.

The man is undergoing tests at the Royal Victoria Hospital amid suspicion he is infected with the potentially fatal virus.

It's understood the treatment is a precautionary measure. The Belfast Health Trust has not confirmed the infection, however test results are reported to be due back this afternoon.

Local reports say the patient travelled to Northern Ireland from the city of Wuhan where the infection outbreak is thought to have originated.

Some 500 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed throughout China, with 17 people losing their lives to the infection.
