Martina Anderson To Return To Stormont

Sinn Fein MEP Martina Anderson is set to be announced as the new MLA for Foyle.

Reports say Ms Anderson is the only candidate nominated to replace Raymond McCartney MLA, who announced he would be stepping down on Friday.

It's expected the appointment will be confirmed at a party convention in the city on Saturday.

Ms Anderson previously held the position of Foyle MLA between 2007 and 2012.

She will lose her job in the European Parliament as the UK withdraws from the EU at 11pm tonight, Friday 31 January.

Northern Ireland's two other MEPs Naomi Long and Diane Dodds have also returned to the Stormont Assembly.
