Man Assaulted With Bats During Newry Burglary

A man has been taken to hospital after an assault during an aggravated burglary in Newry on Sunday evening.

Two intruders entered a flat in the Mourne View Park area shortly before 7.30pm and assaulted the male occupant with baseball bats, police have said.

A 33 year-old man has been arrested and the victim taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have appealed for witnesses to contact detectives at Ardmore on non-emergency line 101.

Men Sentenced For Ballymena Drug And Money Laundering Operation
Three men were sentenced for offences linked to a drugs and money laundering operation in the Ballymena area yesterday, 31 January. At Antrim Crown Court, Troy Carley (27), Neil Lowry (30) and Marc Mitchell (32) were sentenced for a number of offences.

Movilla Strike Day 10: Parents' Anger
Parents of pupils at a Newtownards high school - that has remained closed for two weeks – have raised concerns about the affect the teachers' strike is having on their children's education. It has now been suggested that some pupils at Movilla High School could receive classes elsewhere, as the industrial action looks set to enter its third week.

Teen Arrested In Connection With Murder Of Gerard Quinn
A teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old man in L'Derry. Gerard Quinn was attacked in the Milldale Crescent area at around 10.25pm on Saturday, 21 May. He was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later died.
