Outrage As Defibrillator Damaged In L'Derry
Police have hit out at those who destroyed a defibrillator stored for public use in L'Derry.
Supplied by the City Centre initiative, the expensive and life-saving equipment was removed from its cabinet and "destructed" before being thrown onto a construction site.
The criminal damage was carried out sometime between 10am and 11pm on Sunday 09 February.
Police are reviewing the CCTV in the area and have called for any potential witnesses to come forward with information they believe may be relevant.
A spokesperson said: "I, personally, have attended numerous calls where a defib has been critical in saving a life. One bit of kit that turns a knock on the door to inform next of kin to a hospital run for recovery and treatment.
"This piece of equipment is supplied by the City Center Initiative. It's going to cost over £2500 to replace it. It will take time to repair and replace.
"This is a piece of equipment that was placed for EVERYONE to use in an emergency. And it has been destroyed.
"I am disgusted."

Dungannon Petrol Bomb An 'Abhorrent Act'- Alliance
Those who threw a petrol bomb at a house in Dungannon containing a young child and baby are guilty of an "abhorrent" act, an Alliance Party representative has said.
Two males aged 15 and 34 are in custody after the incident in the Killymaddy Hill area on Sunday night, 09 February.
A petrol bomb was launched at the property and front door smashed before a second bomb was thrown inside the house.
The occupants, including a young child and a baby, were uninjured.
Alliance Party representative for Fermanagh and South Tyrone Matthew Beaumont said: "I condemn this abhorrent act, which could have easily resulted in the death of a family with young children.
"While this luckily did not result in physical injuries this time, I can only imagine the terror this family went through during this incident. There is absolutely no justification whatsoever for this attack, which harks back to a time the vast majority of people want to leave behind.
"I urge anyone with information on this act to contact police with it immediately."
Windows Smashed Of City Centre Businesses
Police are appealing for information after the windows of several businesses in Belfast City Centre were smashed.
A number of commercial premises in the Castle Place, Castle Street and Fountain Street areas were targeted at around 4.20am on Sunday 09 February.
Enquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed anything suspicious is urged to contact police on 101 quoting reference 625 of 09/02/20.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

A police patrol was attacked with a pipe bomb in County Tyrone on Saturday. A security alert began in the Ballycolman estate, Strabane, at about 20:25, following news that something had been thrown at police.

Gardai in Dublin, investigating dissident republican activity, have arrested a Belfast man. A police swoop in the West Park area of the city has resulted in five men being held by officers. It is believed all the men are in their twenties. Detectives at the scene discovered equipment used for making pipebombs.
