PSNI Officers Awarded 2.5% Pay Rise

Police officers in Northern Ireland are to receive a 2.5% pay increase.

The salary boost will be backdated to 01 September 2019, in line with that of officers in England and Wales.

Announcing the award, Justice Minister Naomi Long said: "I welcome the conclusion of the 2019/20 pay round for PSNI officers in the federated and superintending ranks. The award is consistent with the recommendations of the independent Police Remuneration Review Body and recognises the work of police officers in Northern Ireland.

"Our police officers are committed to serving everyone in Northern Ireland and keeping people safe. It is a crucial role at the heart of our community."

Wrightbus Secures £29m Order

Antrim bus manufacturer Wrightbus has struck a £29 million deal with English firm Rotala.

The local firm will supply a total of 163 buses, including 128 double deckers, to the bus operator.

Local councillor Gregg McKeen has welcomed the deal as Wrightbus looks to rebuild itself after entering into administration last year.

"I very much welcome the news that Rotala has placed this order with Wrightbus," he said.

"This is a fantastic step in the journey to rebuild the Wrightbus brand.

"The Wrightbus name has been renowned as a global leader in manufacturing and innovation, and this investment proves they are the future is extremely exciting and promising for this Mid and East Antrim-based firm."

Closure As Roadworks Get Underway In Enniskillen

A resurfacing scheme is set to take place in Enniskillen from next week.

Approximately £120,000 is being invested to improve a section of the Tempo Road in the Largy area. It will see a 725 metre stretch of road improved from its junction with Tattygare Road.

Work will begin on Monday 24 February and run until Friday 28 February.

During this period, a road closure will be in operation between 8am and 6pm. A two way diversion will operate via the A4 Dublin Road and B535 Gardiners Cross Road.

The Department for Infrastructure has urged the public to follow signed diversionary routes, comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to exercise care when travelling through, or in the vicinity of, the works.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
