Elderly Woman Shaken Up In Belfast Burglary

An elderly woman has been left badly shaken after a burglary at a house in north Belfast.

Police say a premises in the Lismoyne Park area of the city was targeted this afternoon, Thursday 05 March.

The resident, aged in her 80s, confronted an unknown male who had gained entry to the property.

Nothing is believed to have been taken but a number of doors and cupboards were opened during the incident.

The woman has been left shaken up by the ordeal.

Police later issued an appeal for residents in the area who may have witnessed anything suspicious between 12.30 and 12.50pm to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference 793 of 05/03/20. Details can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Man Arrested In Connection With 1992 Police Officer Murder
A 59-year-old man has been arrested at Birmingham Airport in connection with a fatal mortar attack in Newry in 1992. The man was arrested on Wednesday, 21 February by detectives from PSNI's Legacy Investigation Branch, investigating the murder of Constable Colleen McMurray and the attempted murder of her colleague in 1992.

Former City Centre Police Station To Become New 74-Bedroom Hotel
