Man Assaulted In Racially Motivated Hate Crime

A man has sustained bruising after he was assaulted by a gang of masked men armed with baseball bats during an aggravated burglary in east Belfast.

Police are treating the incident in the Knock Grove area on Sunday 08 March as a racially motivated hate crime.

A woman and small child escaped uninjured but have been left badly shaken.

The gang forced entry to the house at around 6pm and carried out the attack. The occupant sustained bruising to his head and body as a result.

The males fled the scene on foot.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1345 of 08/03/20.

Man Wanted In Lithuania Arrested In Magherafelt
The PSNI have arrested a 23-year-old man in Magherafelt wanted in Lithuania to face charges of human trafficking. The man was arrested by officers from the Police Service's local policing team in Magherafelt, with assistance from the International Policing Unit. He is expected appear before extradition court in Belfast later today.

Death Of Kilkeel Man Being Treated As Murder
A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Kilkeel. On Thursday, 21 March, police received a report of a concern for safety for a couple at a property in the Newcastle Road area of the town shortly after 12.50pm. On arrival, officers located the body of a man who was unconscious and not breathing.
