Covid-19: Four New NI Cases

Four new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Northern Ireland.

The Department of Health said the presumed positive cases are all adults.

One individual had recently travelled from northern Italy while three others can be traced to previously reported cases of those who recently visited the region.

The rise brings the total number of cases locally to 16, correct as of 9am on Tuesday.

Work is now underway to identify all contacts the individuals may have had.

The new cases are just the latest development as the Covid-19 outbreak deepens in Northern Ireland, with two local schools and one business closed and retailers under pressure.

St Patrick's Day parades in L'Derry and Downpatrick have been cancelled while Belfast City Council has at this stage postponed celebrations in the city. It comes amid fears that large scale public gatherings could spread the virus.
