Three NI TV firms to benefit from training initiative

The Research Centre for Television & Interactivity has today named the seven independent television production companies to take part in its new business skills training initiative, 'Raising the Bar'.

Created specifically for indies in Scotland and Northern Ireland, this year-long training programme in deal-making and finding markets will provide participants with a sophisticated approach to business development and offer them the skills to handle the particular challenges faced by small to medium sized creative businesses.

'Raising the Bar' is a collaborative initiative with Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Screen and the Northern Ireland Film & Television Commission (NIFTC).

Commenting on the announcement, Richard Williams, Chief Executive, NIFTC said: “High level business skills are critical to the NIFTC’s strategy for developing the independent production sector in Northern Ireland. I am delighted that these companies from Northern Ireland will have an opportunity to further develop those skills on this timely and focused scheme.”

The seven companies, three from Northern Ireland and four from Scotland to take part in this year’s programme are: Brian Waddell Productions, Extreme Productions and Green Inc in Northern Ireland and The Comedy Unit, Tern Television, Hopscotch Films and Sterne & Wyld in Scotland.
