Investigation Launches After Video Shows Child Finding Gun

An investigation has launched after a video revealed a child finding a gun in east Belfast.

The footage, which was posted on Twitter, shows a young boy with what is believed to be an air rife which was discovered in the Pitt Park area on Sunday, 18 April.

The air rifle has since been recovered for further examination.

A woman has been arrested in relation to allegations of ill-treatment of patients at Muckamore Abbey Hospital on the outskirts of Antrim. The 52-year-old has been detained in police custody. She is the 16th person to be arrested as part of a major investigation which was launched in 2017.

Investigation Launches After Man Shot Multiple Times In L'Derry
An investigation has launched after a man was shot multiple times in his legs in L'Derry. The shooting occurred at a house in the Whitethorn Drive area on Thursday, 15 April, just before 11pm. The victim was shot a number of times in his legs after two men forced their way into the house. The man is currently receiving hospital treatment.

Investigation Launches After Burning Car Abandoned On Railway Track
An investigation has launched after a burning car was abandoned on a railway track near Bellarena. The incident happened at around 7.45pm on Monday, 12 April, and the train driver was forced to make an emergency stop. The line was closed following the incident, however it has since reopened.

Campaign Launches To Encourage Young People To Get Covid Vaccine
A new campaign has launched to encourage younger people to get the Coronavirus vaccine. Launched by the Public Health Agency, the campaign will feature TV and radio adverts, as well outdoor advertising and a strong social media push. The campaign encourages anyone aged over 18 who is not already vaccinated to get it when eligible.
