Man Dies In 'Workplace Incident' In Tandragee
An investigation is underway following the death of a man in a "workplace incident" in Tandragee.
According to reports a man, aged in his 20s, has dies following an incident at the Taranto concrete factory on Old Scarva Road.
It is understood that police are not treating the man's death as suspicious. The Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSE) has said that an investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident is underway.
Alliance Welcome Translinks Decision Not To Close Public Right Of Way
Alliance has welcomed Translink's reversal of a decision to close "much used public right of way", less than 48 hours after they launched a campaign to overturn the decision.
Plans to close the path between the station and Manse/Brunswick Road had been met with uproar.
Connie Egan – the Alliance Party's constituency rep – said: "This was about Translink's senior officers coming to their senses and recognising the importance of this path to the local community – talk about people power.
"To remove it would have been taking away a safe route into the centre of Bangor and was just a farcical decision at a time when we are encouraging more and more people to use our open spaces.
"Since yesterday's announcement was made I not only started a petition against the plans, but also met with residents along with Stephen Farry MP and Councillor Karen Douglas.
"I'm grateful to all the people who stepped forward to make their voice heard on this issue. Such a quick turnaround by Translink signals the importance of always making your voice heard and together we can make a real difference for our area."
New Weather Warning Issued For Thunderstorms
The Met Office has issued a new Yellow Warning for rain, warning that heavy slow moving thunderstorms, which will give a risk of flooding and travel disruption.
The weather warning comes into affect from 1pm on Thursday 05 August.
The forecaster said that:
• There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
• There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life
• Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
• Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
• There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

Minister's Welcome NI's Inclusion In Post Office Offences Bill
Minister's have welcomed a decision to include Northern Ireland in the Post Office (Horizon System) Offences Bill. The decision by the UK Government follows strong representations by the Executive Ministers to ensure that those affected here are treated on the same basis as their counterparts elsewhere.

The weather warning comes into effect at 9.00 am and is due to remain in place until 5.00 pm with warnings that it could impact travel, cause power outages and lead to large waves in coastal areas.
