Murder Investigation Launched Into Downpatrick Stabbing

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information following the fatal stabbing on a man in Downpatrick, Co Down.

Detectives from the Major Investigation Team have launched a murder investigation after a 28-year-old man died following a stabbing incident in the town on Monday 03 January.

Launching the appeal, Detective Chief Inspector, John Caldwell said: "We believe that the man was stabbed in the Church Street area of the town around 11am on Monday, 3rd January. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"We have arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody at this time. I would appeal to anyone with information which could assist in our investigation or who may have dashcam footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference number 497 of 03/01/22.

Man Arrested For Attempted Murder Of Police Officer
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was injured when he was carried for up to 30m on the bonnet of a car in L'Derry on Monday, 02 May. In the same incident, a second officer was also injured when he was struck by the same vehicle.

Man Arrested In L'Derry
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in L'Derry. Officers from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation unit carried out a search at a property in connection with an ongoing on Wednesday, 04 November. A number of items were seized for further examination. The man was taken to be questioned, however he has now been released.

Man arrested over Electoral Office fraud
A 58-year-old man from Co Tyrone has been arrested and charged following a police investigation into irregularities at an Electoral Office in the west of the province. The man was charged with 30 offences, 17 of which relate to theft and 13 of fake accounting. He will appear before a court in Omagh on November 11.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
