Two Men Jailed For Manslaughter Of Randall Ellis

The PSNI have welcomed the sentences handed down to David Ellis and Dean Martin at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of Randall Ellis, aged 49, at a property in Portadown in December 2019.

David Ellis, aged 21, was sentenced to eight years – four years will be served in custody and four years on licence.

Dean Martin, aged 26, was sentenced to 10 years – five years in custody and five years on licence.

Detective Superintendent Eamonn Corrigan from the Major Investigation Team said: "Police and paramedics were called to Randall Ellis' home in Clounagh Park, Portadown, on the morning of Monday 9 December 2019, where sadly Mr Ellis was found dead.

"He had been stabbed in his lower right leg, and had died from the loss of blood.

"Dean Martin and David Ellis, who is the deceased's nephew, had gone to Randall Ellis' house in the early hours of that morning, when the violent and unprovoked attack occurred.

"The two subsequently made off, leaving the victim to die alone. It's believed he died some hours later.

"This was a callous act, which has cost a man his life.

"I can only hope that today's sentencing sends out a clear message to anyone who thinks they can get away with such atrocity. We will continue to work tirelessly and relentlessly to bring offenders before the courts."
