Man Dies In L'Derry House Fire

An investigation has been launched following the death of an elderly man in a house fire in L'Derry.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at a house in the Earhart Park area of the city early this morning.

Five people were rescued from the property. A man, aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation is now under way to determine the cause of the fire and anyone with information is asked to come forward to the police.

Man Arrested In Connection With Sean Fox Murder Investigation
PSNI detectives investigating the murder of Sean Fox in west Belfast in 2022 have arrested a 40-year-old man. The man was arrested following searches in west Belfast this morning, 1 February. The suspect was arrested under the Terrorism Act, and has been taken to the Serious Crime Suite in Musgrave for questioning.

ASSEMBLY CREATE AWARD TO HONOUR FIRE SERVICE
THE Northern Ireland Fire Service is to receive the first ever award given by the province's devolved assembly. An illuminated scroll is to be presented to Chief Fire Officer John McClelland on Tuesday, by assembly speaker Lord Alderdice in tribute to the sacrifice made by fire fighters over the years.

Fatal House Fire In Newtownards
A woman in her 30s has died in a fire at a house in Newtownards, Co. Down. The fire occurred at a house in Ilex Avenue at around 5.30pm and the woman is reported to have died at the scene. An investigation into the circumstances of the death is being conducted by police who have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Man Jailed For Manslaughter Of David James Conville
A 31-year-old man has been jailed at Belfast Crown Court for the manslaughter of David James Conville in south Belfast in May, 2022. Edward Kelly was sentenced to serve three-and-a-half years, half of his sentence will be served in custody and half will be served on licence, following his guilty plea last November.

Investigation Launches Into Fatal L'Derry House Fire
An investigation has been launched in L'Derry following the death of a man in a house fire on Upper Bennett Street. Emergency services were called to reports of a house fire at about 8am on Sunday morning. Fire crews found the man in the house, and despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
