Births, Marriages And Deaths Can Now Be Registered In Irish
Births, marriages, civil partnerships and deaths can now be registered in Irish, Finance Minister, Conor Murphy has announced.
The new regulations are part of a phased response to a New Decade New Approach commitment to enable people to access public services in their chosen language.
Making the announcement following today's Assembly debate, Minister Murphy said: "Until now birth, marriage, civil partnerships and death certificates could only be produced in English. The public will now have more choice when it comes to registering births, marriages, civil partnerships and deaths as headings for new registrations can now be in English, Irish, or Bi-lingual English and Irish.
"My intention is that the next step would see further parts of the registration process available in Irish. I would like to see further stages moving towards the full registration process being conducted in Irish.
"This is a significant development in the journey towards equality for all our citizens."

'News Blackout' Over NI Soldier's Injuries
News of two further accidental deaths in Afghanistan means that three British soldiers have now died in accidents in just over 10 days - one being a Royal Irish Regiment (RIR) soldier from Bangor, Co Down. Now - in another apparent accident - a Co Antrim soldier has been been badly wounded during training last week.

Café To Boost Refurbished City Hall
The multi-million pound Belfast City Hall refurbishment is to have an entirely new facility when it re-opens - a new coffee shop. Recalling Belfast's spinning and weaving heritage, the new coffee shop will be called The Bobbin and will be open to customers when the City Hall itself re-opens at the beginning of October.
