NIFRS Tackling Wildfires In The Mournes
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) are continuing to tackle wildfires spread across three mountains in the Mournes.
Fire crews first responded to reports of a wildfire on Tuesday evening, however it is understood that as the fire was determined to pose "no risk to life or property", the NIFRS decided to monitor the situation overnight over concerns for firefighter safety.
The fire has now been described as "significant" with the front measuring approximately 2 miles across.
Eight NIFRS engines are currently on site.
The public has been urged to avoid the area.
