Firmus Energy Announces Further 16.31% Price Increase

Firmus Energy has announced a further 16.31% price increase in its Ten Towns network.

Due to come into effect from 03 May the price rise is expected to affect some 55,000 customers.

The increase follows an earlier rise of 33.57% announced in February this year and is the fourth increase since last spring.

The Ten Towns area includes Antrim, Armagh, Ballymena, Coleraine, Craigavon, Londonderry and Newry.

The gas supplier has said that increase is needed because "energy markets remain at very high levels having been adversely affected by the war in Ukraine" and that they had no choice but to pass on to customers the higher costs they are paying for the gas they supply.

The company added that they were "committed to reducing its tariff for all customers as soon as the market crisis subsides and enables us to do so".
