New Belfast Regeneration Development Approved
The Planning Committee at Belfast City Council has approved a new mixed-use regeneration development on lands surrounding the new Belfast Transport Hub.
The mixed-use development located to the East and West of Durham Street and South of Grosvenor Road will comprise office space, residential apartments and a hotel. It will also provide public realm, active travel, hospitality and community uses.
The project will redevelop lands freed up by the future closure of the existing Europa Bus Station and Great Victoria Street train station.
Planning Committee Deputy Chair Councillor Conor Maskey said: "This is positive news for the city with this planning proposal at Belfast's new Transport Hub providing a significant opportunity for both investment and job creation.
"It will make effective use of previously developed land and provide a really important mixed-use scheme that will cater for a wide range of uses including employment, retail, community issues and housing which will support the Council's aims of increasing city centre living."
It is expected that the proposal will deliver a minimum of 400 new homes and at least 80 social and affordable housing units, which would support people in housing need.
The Committee gave the 'Weaver's Cross Regeneration Project' proposal the green light at its monthly meeting on Wednesday 31 August.

Brewery To Become New Homes
A new £25m housing scheme has been approved for the old Bass Brewery in west Belfast. Some 166 new homes will be built in what is being billed as one of the largest social housing schemes undertaken in Northern Ireland. It will also create much needed employment - with some 200 on-site jobs boosting the beleaguered construction industry.

Crumlin Social Housing Scheme Opened
A new social housing scheme of three and four bedroom houses has been officially opened in Crumlin. The fourteen new homes for families on the social housing waiting list, is owned and managed by Habinteg Housing Association who funded the build, with support from the Department for Social Development.
