Hargey Welcomes 'Constructive Talks' Over Housing Executive Pay Dispute

Communities Minister Deirdre Hargey has held constructive discussions with union officials in relation to the ongoing Housing Executive pay dispute.

The Minister met with senior representatives from NIPSA and UNITE in a series of meetings on Wednesday 19 October 2022.

Speaking afterwards, the Minister said: "I have held meetings with officials from both NIPSA and UNITE and welcome the constructive discussions on a range of matters, including the ongoing pay dispute.

"The absence of a functioning Executive, an Executive Pay Policy and a budget means that I am unable to intervene in the ongoing pay negotiations or agreement of pay awards.

"However, I continue to urge all those involved to work urgently to find an agreed resolution.

"Following the meetings today I will be writing formally to the Housing Executive to outline the need to secure agreement as swiftly as possible."

The negotiations on reaching agreement for Housing Executive pay are wholly matters for the Housing Executive, TUS and its employees. The Minister will need to approve the pay award once agreed settlement has been reached.
