Economy Minister Launches '10x Economic Vision'

Economy Minister Gordon Lyons has announced a new economic vision for a decade of innovation with the implementation of the '10x Economic Vision'.

Launched last year, the 10x Economic Vision sets out an ambitious economic vision for a decade of innovation. Following a recent public consultation, the Minister has published the 10x Vision: Next Steps for Implementation, setting objectives that need to be achieved to deliver a 10x economy.

Commenting on the publication, Minister Lyons said: "The objectives I have set out today indicate my ambition for our economy. These objectives focus on three themes – innovation, inclusion and sustainability – and will provide a framework for the work of DfE in implementing the 10x Vision.

"These objectives are deliberately ambitious and have been set based on what our economy needs rather than what we have delivered in the past. Achieving these objectives will bring benefits to our entire society."

The Minister added: "We have massive potential and these objectives and the wider performance management framework will help to ensure that we realise this ambition.

"We are in a very difficult economic climate. The rising cost of living is putting huge pressure on households and businesses. I believe the approach I have outlined today will build our resilience in the face of current and future economic shocks."

The Minister concluded: "I would also highlight that an expression of interest form remains open to identify stakeholders who would like to be involved in the development of 10x work on innovation, inclusion and sustainability, and I encourage anyone with an interest to get involved."

10x Vision: Next Steps for the Implementation is available on the DfE website.

Expressions of interest for the policy process can be made through nidirect.

This will remain open until 18 January 2023.
