Waterside Hijacking Device Confirmed As 'Viable Explosive'
A suspect device recovered from a hijacked vehicle outside Waterside Police Station in L'Derry has been determined as a "viable explosive device".
A delivery driver had been forced to drive the object to the police station on the evening of Sunday 20 November. The driver had been able to warn police and a major public safety operation was immediately launched.
The device had initially been declared a hoax, however, Assistant Chief Constable Bobby Singleton has now confirmed it was a 'viable explosive device'.
ACC Singleton said: "This further underlines the reckless and callous disregard by those responsible for the safety of the driver, the local community and the police officers who serve them.
"I would again appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Milldale Crescent in Curryneirin or in the vicinity of Waterside Police Station on Sunday evening around 10.30pm, to come forward with information on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Viable Incendiary Device Found On Police Station Grounds
A controlled explosion has been carried out on a viable incendiary device discovered on the grounds of Ballycastle Police Station, Co Antrim. A second device found has been declared a hoax. They were discovered on the Ramoan Road on Thursday morning. A number of businesses were forced to close during the alert, however they have now reopened.

Explosive Device Found In West Belfast
An explosive device found during a security alert in west Belfast was "designed to kill or seriously injure police officers", according to the PSNI. The alert, which has now ended, was on the Brians Well road area in Poleglass on Saturday, 14 January.

Search Continues For Explosive Device In L'Derry
Police are continuing to carry out searches in L'Derry after being informed that a suspicious device has been left in the city. The search, on the Madam's Bank Road, is resuming after being told an explosive device had been abandoned in the area. Residents and motorists are being urged to be vigilant.

A viable device has been discovered near to the home of a police officer in Dungiven, L'Derry. The woman targeted is a member of staff and also serves as a part-time PSNI officer. First Minister Arlene Foster said she "condemned those responsible".
