Trading Standards offer holiday insurance advice

The Trading Standards Service (TSS) has advised Northern Ireland’s holidaymakers to shop around when it comes to travel insurance.

A recent survey by TSS found the cost of travel insurance for a family of 2 adults and 2 children ranged from £27.95 to £122.46.

The cheapest deals were found to be on the internet, while it was some of the big name travel agencies who were offering the most expensive policies. The travel insurance on offer from large retailers and financial institutions fell in between these two extremes.

Kevin McNamara, of the Trading Standards Service, said: “Of course, it is important to check the policy details to ensure you are getting the cover you need. But with our survey showing a difference of up to £95 between policies, it is well worth shopping around rather than taking the first policy you are offered.”
